As a My Coupon Database customer, will I receive additional pageviews for each search with the database?

For self-hosted iFrame users, YES! For each search a reader makes, your site’s database page will refresh giving you additional pageviews! The benefit in this is that you will receive additional impressions will increase ad revenue if you are with a CPM network.

How often is the database updated?

The database is updated on a daily basis with new coupons of all types. The updates include new additions as well as removing expired coupons and updating coupon errors.

My Coupon Database is compatible with any website that allows for hosting an iFrame. The MCD List Plugin is compatible with WordPress.

Customizing the Coupon Database

My current blog design does not allow for a no sidebars page. How can I use the database?

Many WordPress designs can be modified to allow for a No Sidebars page. This is already built in to many themes.

If you are on Blogger, you can create a static page to host the database iframe. Blogger now also allows modifications to create a no sidebars static page. This does require editing the HTML of your layout.

We recommend you to contact a design specialist for either platform to ensure any modifications made to accommodate a no sidebars page does not also affect your current design.

The other benefit about My Coupon Database is that it is fully hosted on our site as well. Once you register, you can log in under your personal account and view the database (under “Get Your Code”).

While you work to get your Coupon Database Page set up, you can still utilize the great features the database offers! As you can see, accessing the time savings benefit of the copy and paste feature is worth having alone.

How do I customize the colors of my Coupon Database?

All customization is done under the Blog Format and iFrame Options page in your account. To customize your colors, fonts, iFrame column display options and many other features, update the options to your choosing.

How do I customize the text of the buttons on my personal Coupon Database?

Under the Blog Format and iFrame Options page, scroll down to the “iFrame: Your Pages” section. Update the buttons with the correct text and links.

My iFrame isn’t showing the Source Name. How do I fix it?

Under the Blog Format and iFrame Options page, you can easily enable or disable specific iFrame columns from showing on your coupon database.

How do I customize the Blog Formats?

You can customize the Blog Formats for each coupon source under the Blog Format and iFrame Options page. Select Enable to show the field in your Blog Format. Quickly drag and drop each selection to reflect the order you want the Blog Format to be displayed.

How to I change the height, width and coupons being displayed on my iframe?

In your iFrame Code, update the dimensions for the height and width of the database. You can also update the number of coupons you want to be displayed on each page. The default is set to 15 but may be customized by you.

Why can’t I add affiliate links to the Free version of the Coupon Database?

There are many customization options for the Free version of the Coupon Database. However, the iFrame package is the level that offers the monetization benefits with the database. You can upgrade at any time in your account under the Edit my Profile page.

Simply log into your Coupon Admin Panel and select the Edit Affiliate Codes page to add your personal affiliate links.

Coupon Database Troubleshooting Suggestions

How do I use the one-click to quickly copy?

Simply click on the Blog Format column field for the coupon you want to copy. It will copy automatically and can be pasted immediately into your paste in the HTML editor.

Additionally, the Copy All Blog Format for iFrame customers can be used simply by clicking copy and pasting in the HTML editor as well.

How can I copy to paste the Blog Format in my visual editor?

Make sure your mouse is positioned right at the very top left of the blog format box and start to drag right before the first letter, drag to get all for the words you want and ctrl+c to copy. Then paste into your post.

Why isn’t my database showing up?

Make sure your coupon database URL is listed correctly in your account. This can be found under the Edit my Profile page and scrolling down to Website Information and My Database URL.

The coupon database URL needs to be listed the same as the coupon database page hosted on your site in order for it to function properly.

CORRECT: http://mycoupondatabase.com/coupon-database
NOT CORRECT: mycoupondatabase.com

Affiliate Links and the Coupon Database

How do I add my personal affiliate links in the Coupon Database?

Simply log into your Coupon Admin Panel and select the Edit Affiliate Codes page to add your personal affiliate links. Your coupon database will not have any affiliate links showing unless you add your own so you definitely want to add revenue-generating links.

What if I have an affiliate link that has changed?

Any changes to affiliate codes can be made under the Edit Affiliate Codes page.

If I have a new affiliate link to add, do I have to copy/paste the iframe code again?

Nope. Once you add or edit the affiliate link, it automatically updates your database and any existing coupons that have been added using the MCD List Plugin.

How can I track each affiliate link to see how many clicks I receive?

Many of our customers using WordPress, utilize the Ninja plugin. This plugin makes it easy to set up separate affiliate links for the affiliates you are using in the coupon database.

If you do not have the Ninja plugin, or are hosting utilizing the Blogger blogging platform, we suggest using a creative that is unique for the database. By tracking clicks and the revenue from those unique creatives, you will be able to measure the ROI of using My Coupon Database.

Upload your logo through “Media”, then simply copy and paste the url of the uploaded file into this field. This will be used for the print list page that your viewers can see.

You can update additional preferences, such as expiration date, item price text and coupon stacking text. Additional updates may be made to the Frontend CSS Styles as well.

MCD List Plugin Troubleshooting

I added items to my coupon list. There are not any coupon showing for me to add to my list. What should I do?

Ensure that your API Token is updated. The API Token is listed on the Edit My Profile page under your Account Information in your member account. Once this is updated and saved on your site’s Settings page, available coupons will show.

You can also refer to the installation instructions you received with your welcome email.

How do I enter my personal affiliate links with the plugin?

The plugin does all of the work for you based on what you have entered in your My Coupon Database account. When you add coupons to your coupon lists, your personal affiliate links are instantly updated when the list is published.

Miscellaneous Questions

What if I there is a coupon available but it is not listed in the database?

While we are proud of the fact that we enter data timely and accurately, there are sometimes that different regions receive different coupons from what is entered into the database. Or, you may have found a printable coupon not listed in the database.

If you have found any coupon not listed in the database, please press the Suggest a Coupon button. We will take the information and work to add it to the database.

I want to link to a specific coupon database search, is that possible?

Yes! Do a search in your coupon database and simply copy the URL that identifies those search results.

This feature is not available for Free accounts at this time.

How can I be notified when new coupons are added to the coupon database?

As an iFrame or MCD List Plugin user, you have access to a member RSS link. Add this RSS to your reader of choice and you will know instantly when new coupons are added.

What if there is a printable coupon showing in the database but it has expired?

At times, printable coupons do expire before the listed expiration date. If you see that this is the case, simply press the Report link next to the coupon so the coupon can be investigated and removed if appropriate.

Sometimes coupons are no longer available for you to print and are not expired. If you continue to see this coupon after reporting it, rest assured that we have taken the steps to investigate and have confirmed that it is still available for others who have not yet printed the coupon.

What if I find an error with a coupon in the database?

Please click the Report link next to that coupon and report the issue you see. We will investigate the coupon and update appropriately.
